Patrol

PD Patrol
The village is patrolled by officers 24 X7.  Duties include answering calls for service, traffic enforcement, general area patrols including residences and businesses.


Vacation Checks
If you are going to be away from your home, please let the Police Department know, so that we can check your property in your absence.

If there are any problems or unusual circumstances, we will immediately notify you.  Upon return, we will give you a report of our checks for your record.

Our goal is to keep our Village safe and to offer you peace of mind while away.

Business Checks
A regular part of the patrol function is after hours business checks.  Our officers may drive through parking lots, may sit in a parking lot for a brief period of time, and /or may exit the patrol vehicle and check to make sure the doors are locked. Any business that is experiencing or think they may be experiencing any issues, please contact the police department using the "Report a Crime" feature.

K-9 Unit


PD K-9

Police K9s are specially bred service dogs who undergo extensive training, enabling them to assist their human partners with a variety of important tasks. Common K9 duties include suspect tracking and apprehension, narcotic and explosive detection, and search and rescue.

The Batavia Police Department has had a K9 since February 2015. Batavia Police Department has a dual purpose K9.  Drees is trained in both patrol work and narcotics detection. K9 Drees handler is Officer Chris Whitaker.


School Resource Officer (SRO)

PD SRO

The School Resource Officer (SRO) provides a highly visible presence to deter criminal activity on campus. The SRO assists the school administration is maintaining a safe and secure environment. It is important to note, the SRO does not enforce school rules.  School rule violations are the responsibility of the faculty.

 The school resource officer is based out of the Batavia High School and Elementary School campus but also travels to the Batavia Middle School campus.  The SRO is a full-time position during the school year. Officer Warner took over the School Resource Officer position on Oct 24th, 2022 during the 2022/2023 school year.
