The Planning and Zoning Department guides how the Village of Batavia grows and changes over time. Through zoning oversight, permit review, code enforcement, and long-range planning, the department works to protect property values, ensure public safety, and support orderly development that fits the character of the community.

The department oversees building and zoning permits, zoning verification, property maintenance standards, code enforcement, and comprehensive planning. The Village's Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals work alongside the department to review development proposals and set standards for current and future growth.

Permits and Applications

Residents, property owners, and developers can submit zoning applications online or download forms below.

Code Enforcement

The Village maintains community standards through active code enforcement. Property owners who receive a notice of violation are given a specified timeframe to come into compliance. Unresolved violations may result in legal action, fines, and court costs.

Common violations include overgrown yards or noxious weeds, unmaintained structures, unpermitted construction, accumulation of trash or debris, and storage of unlicensed or inoperable vehicles.

To discuss a violation notice or arrange a compliance timeline, contact Chip Stewart at 513-732-2020 or chip.stewart@bataviaoh.gov.
